Former President Donald Trump’s top environmental lawyer is no longer accused of being a “co-conspirator” in his efforts to subvert the 2020 presidential election.

Jeffrey Clark was widely assumed to be “Co-Conspirator 4” in an August 2023 indictment that special prosecutor Jack Smith secured from a Washington grand jury.

Clark was assistant attorney general for environment and natural resources and acting as assistant attorney general for the department’s civil division in late 2020 and early 2021.
