Ohio Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown said he’ll vote to overturn the Biden administration’s regulation to limit greenhouse gas emissions from power plants.
Brown, one of the most vulnerable incumbent Senate Democrats in the 2024 elections, is the first in his party to announce support for a resolution that would overturn the EPA rule. Sen. Joe Manchin (I-W.Va.), who was a Democrat until last month, is an original co-sponsor of the measure.
Brown said he was motivated by what he sees as likely harms to energy industry workers and rural electric cooperative utilities.
“This is an unrealistic, unachievable rule that could undermine grid reliability, cause job losses for energy workers, and raise energy costs for Ohioans,” Brown said in a Wednesday statement.
